Summary

I am attempting to prepare a map I have been working on for a while for collaboration. I didn’t have revision control enabled while working on it solo, so I tried enabling it and generating a snapshot. After a while of uploading, it stopped and only this appeared in the output log: “Unexpected error during communication with file server.”

I tried migrating everything over to a new project, only to have the same thing happen. I tested the revision control on the new project prior to migration too, and it did indeed work. So I’m pretty sure the issue is with something in the project itself.

Some extra context:

  • The map is very big, my project file in explorer is around 7gb.
  • I started this project before I understood revision control, so my method of backing up was duplicating the project file. This is what I initially thought caused the problem, but when I migrated it over to a fresh project the same error occurred.
  • The map has been published in the past, but is currently unlisted.

Steps to Reproduce

Open the level summer camp royale
Check in changes
Wait until the error occurs

Expected Result

I was expecting the map version to update, so other members of the development team could access it within UEFN.

Observed Result

No “completed” or “failed” message appears, the only way to know what happened is by checking the message or output logs.

Platform(s)

windows

Island Code

7940-5336-2371

Additional Notes

The island code above is for the version of this map prior to migration. The version I am editing in UEFN is only local on my computer, which is the problem I’m attempting to solve obviously. So I’m not sure how you could recreate the issue without access to my version, but let me know what a possible solution might be!
