Unreal Editor for Fortnite
What Type of Bug are you experiencing?
Stability
Summary
Experiencing a huge issue with constant crashing across almost every one of my projects, oftentimes making them impossible to work on. All of which seem to be shader-related. Shaders are very sluggish to load (following recent update pushed out to uefn, didn’t used to be the case), and for whatever reason UEFN just randomly spins a wheel and decides certain shaders are corrupt and will instantly crash the moment you try to touch them.
It’s not hardware related in any way, because the crashes are tied to very specific actions and are instantaneous once said action is performed. Crashing is not occurring because the PC is under load.
Steps to Reproduce
Attempting to load textures/materials/shaders. Dragging out galleries, prefabs, importing custom objects, etc.
Expected Result
Assets load as expected, relatively quickly
Observed Result
Any time UEFN needs to load a new shader, it stays textureless for much longer than is necessary. So much so, I have to move on and come back to it when it has finally finished loading. UEFN will target specific assets and make them unusable, causing an instant crash if you try to interact with them, and also randomly fails to compile shaders and crashes occasionally.
Platform(s)
UEFN (PC)
Additional Notes
I have posted a similar issue about this, but submitting another one because the issue has persisted across projects and continues to be very problematic. For anyone reading along, let me know if you are experiencing anything similar, because I’m not seeing a lot of people talking about this and it’s very strange.
