Memory

Summary

Hello! I am experiencing a nuesance issue today March 22 2024. It has been going on for actually about 6 months intermittently had improved accuracy in memory measurement results. However, texture compressing does not work or help project size still, nor does the option in UEFN “resize texture import data” to lower project size. So I began deleting a mass sum of large items consuming large amounts of Cook download size in the Project size from the outliner and contentbrowser. Unfortunately, doing so increased my project size and cell memory. (Assets equating to 20 MB cooked size have been deleted, increasing my project size and raising the total from 394/400mb to 396mb, however then it went back down to 394/400mb but did not Lower)

If you delete the high ticket items and publish, say an asset listed with 20mb showing in the cooked assets in the project size packaged details window are deleted, the project size will still say 394/400mb 98% even after deleting from the content browser and project. I cannot lower my project size and it is inaccurate.
For Example if an asset in the project size details panel shows 7Mb for a Tree_2, I delete all of the Tree_2 assets in the viewport, outliner, and content browser, and foliage,
I push changes to the launcher, and still would show Cooked 394/400MB download size 98% project size.
The game is finished except for fixing these bugs and hopefully other creators can read this post and know they are not alone!

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Delete assets from the project size listed under item size in the project size window.
  2. One Cooked asset size shows 7 mb. I deleted all assets and items from the outliner, and content browser using this asset.
  3. The project size window shows the asset in it still, and size did not lower. The cell memory increased.
  4. I kept refreshing the project size in the window, and did window > Audit > Statistics. I Deleted 2,000 kb content size assets listed in the audit window.
  5. Pushed changes, launch session, Cell memory jumped from 81,000 to 88,000
    6 .
    ( UPDATE)
Opened project following day, and now cell memory jumped to 93,300. But each push changes, it goes back to 90,000 then up to 93,000.

This makes no sens. Why is it increasing when I am deleting massive amounts of assets?

Expected Result

Project size should have lowered now that I deleted 20 mb of assets listed in the project size window. Project size stuck at 98% and 394 mb / 400 mb and should have lowered 20 mb. Cell memory should lower when removing huge rocks and assets, not increase.

Observed Result

Deleting Giant rocks, memory intensive assets like trees and foliage (7mb cook size) should lower project size and cell memory but instead it increases it.

Additional Notes

I dont understand how the memory increased when I am trying to resolve high memory by deleting assets from the scene and the content browser. This has to be a bug.
