How are audio file sizes calculated??

I’ve just started trying to optimize a project that had apparently large audio files

I’m not an audio pro but I can understand that lowering a quality related number should generally reduce the file size, I used audacity to perform some exports and test the file sizes, however :

I might be missing something here, but I still think that it’s really hard to work with, the music in the project I’m working on take 20%+ of the download size for random reasons Image may be NSFW.
