(VERY LONG READING TIME!)
Hello! I hope everyone reading this is doing well. I’m reaching out to the Dev community in hopes of finding answers to my questions.
A few hours ago, I inquired about the current state of the Discovery Page. Unfortunately, I’ve found no substantial information on the internet or from Epic Support…
What I know is that Epic is developing a new system to report maps with explicit content that somehow make it onto the Discovery Page. Here are my questions:
- Why do maps with explicit content or non-original, AI-generated designs appear on the Discovery Page?
- What about serious creators who invest their skill and passion into creating islands? How can they take steps to be featured on the Discovery Page?
- Is it all just luck? Who decides what gets on the Discovery Page? Currently, there’s a lot of non-specific content featured.
- Top maps with the most players are constantly showcased, even though players likely liked these islands just to play them immediately, overshadowing new creations.
- How many islands remain in the shadows because the system behind this doesn’t seem to function properly?
- In theory, an island is published and reviewed by a moderation team. What happens next?
- The moderation team should also be responsible for featuring these islands on the Discovery Page… It can’t be automatic or random. If it is, it’s clear why many showcased islands are on thin ice.
I’m not saying no one deserves to be on the Discovery Page, but it’s disheartening when a creator with a simple Box-Fight island gets featured over one with ambitious projects. The Creative 2.0 trailer showed elaborate creations. Where are they? It seems simple projects like Box Fights are rewarded.
I hope to reach the right people and help other creators, as every creator is valuable!
