Edit:
I thought this was a bug, but it is most likely that the HMD Layers were causing the problem.
For those needing to fix this in the future, make sure that if you are using multiple hud_message_devices, (especially ones close together) make them on separate layers. This is done my changing the Layer in the properties window:
If they are on the same layer, it is possible for it just to render one of the devices, making it appear that none of your changes work. Hope this helps : )

Summary
Any changes done to the hud_message_device inside of UEFN (i.e, Changing text color, text position, text size, etc.) are not reflected in game until all open sessions are completely closed and relaunched again.
Steps to Reproduce
- Add a hud_message_device to the scene
- Launch Session
- End Game
- Edit any of the text properties of the hud_message_device (i.e Text color)
- Push Changes
- Once the game starts, the changes will not be present. Instead, the initial version of the hud_message_device is shown
If the active session is disconnected (leave to lobby) and later reconnected, the changes to the hud_message_device will appear
Expected Result
It is expected that after a push change / verse build the changes to the hud_message_device get applied.
Observed Result
The version of the hud_message_device that was present during the start of the session will appear, without any recent changes.
