Summary

After publishing my Island, the Conditional Button does not reflect the Interaction Radius setting assigned in Creative Edit Mode.

Steps to Reproduce

  • Launch a session in Creative Mode.

  • Make a new Island or load an existing Island.

  • Enter your Island and place a Conditional Button Device. Set “Visible During Game” to “HOLOGRAM ONLY” and set “Interaction Radius” to any setting other than “BUTTON”.

  • Place a prop or Device (such as an Item Placer) large enough to cover all or part of the Conditional Button, but not larger than the Interaction Radius.

  • PUBLISH THE GAME. (The Device functions correctly while editing your Island in Creative Edit Mode.)

  • Once your Island has been approved for public release, launch a session in the published game, move to the location of the Conditional Button and associated prop, and attempt to interact.

Expected Result

The Device should allow players to interact from the distance established by the Interaction Radius setting.

Observed Result

The part of the Conditional Button which is covered by the Prop will not register as an interactive Device, even though the Interaction Radius is larger than the prop in question. If the entire Conditional Button is covered by the prop, the Device will be unusable to the player.

Additional Notes

This issue is breaking my game experience, making it impossible for players to exchange resources for certain items. While the majority of the experience is still playable, many items which serve to advantage the players later in the game are presently inaccessible due to this issue.

As a temporary work-around, Island Creators might find it practical to make the Conditional Button Device visible to players, so that they know where to interact with the prop.

If the former option would interfere with the player experience (as it would in my case) then it could be made as large as possible, set to invisible, and placed in front of the most obvious part of the prop which is meant to be viewed by the player. If the Device’s size serves as the interactive zone even while invisible, this would effectively increase the interaction radius. I HAVE NOT ATTEMPTED THIS TO SEE IF IT WORKS.
