Devices

Summary

Existing Audio Player Devices do not play sounds when a saved Island is loaded in Creative Mode.

Steps to Reproduce

Start a session in Creative Mode. Start a new Island, or load an existing saved Island, enter it, and place an Audio Player Device.

Select a sound to play and make sure that it can be triggered (Play On Hit: ON, or have another device such as a Button send an Event to the Audio Player to play the sound).

Return to Lobby.

Re-enter Creative Mode, and enter the saved Island.

Triggering the Audio Player Device will no longer play the sound.

Expected Result

The Audio Player Device should play the selected sound when triggered.

Observed Result

Triggering the Audio Player Device does not play the selected sound when triggered.

Platform(s)

PC

Island Code

Have not encountered on published islands.

Additional Notes

I have not encountered this on published islands, only during editing in Creative Mode.

Changing the rift’s target Island does not appear to affect the condition.

The Audio Player will not play the sound no matter how it is triggered (whether via Pickaxe/Harvesting Tool or triggered by another Device) or which player is the Instigator.

If the malfunctioning Device is copied and additional copies are placed, the copies will function correctly until the player returns to the Lobby.

I do not know if all players must leave the session in order to cause this issue, or if it affects players individually. I do know that all players loading into the saved island will not hear the sounds until the process below has been completed.

The issue can be fixed until the end of the session by selecting a different sound for the Device to play, saving the Device settings, reselecting the original sound, and then saving the Device settings again.
